

Now it's the reverse- because the internet was the subject of huge excitement following its release (even reaching #4 on the annual RapGenius best-of-the-year poll ), but was received with a shrug by critics. At the beginning of his career, critics generally liked him while the musical community considered him a joke rapper for people who didn't really take hip-hop seriously. Despite this, most people don't blame him for the quality (or lack thereof) of the movie and continue to be his fans. Others felt like he was surprisingly wooden in the role, especially compared to anything else he's done, and had little vocal chemistry with Beyoncé, whether singing or acting. Some of his fans thought he did a good job and was one of the better parts of an otherwise pointless remake. While his performance as Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story was unanimously well received, even to people who otherwise had mixed feelings about the movie, his performance as Simba got mixed reviews from critics and even his fans. On the acting side of things, his performance as Simba in The Lion King (2019).The fact that there is reportedly no rapping on the album according to those who have heard the full album doesn't help.
